PIRET ILVER – SHOPPING SCIENCE IN ONLINE AND RETAIL WORLDS

Turning “why we buy” into words that sell.

Ever wondered why people buy or how to make them buy more without feeling pushy? That’s where shopping science comes in. I write marketing and retail stories, build data‑driven case studies, and speak about why we buy and how to sell more so you can use consumer psychology in the real world, not just in slide decks.

  • Articles on retail, e‑commerce and consumer psychology for your site, newsletter or publication.

  • Case studies that turn your campaigns, experiments and store data into compelling, credible stories.

  • Conference and event write‑ups you can publish in your own channels.

  • Selected talks and podcast guest interviews on why we buy and how to sell more when you need a writer who can also bring the story alive in audio or on stage.

Piret Ilver consumer psychology and shopping science expert

    Hi, I'm Piret Ilver

SHOPPING SCIENCE IN ONLINE AND RETAIL WORLDS

I’m Piret Ilver, an entrepreneur and shopping science nerd who studies how people have shopped for over a hundred years from the first department stores to today’s e‑commerce giants.

Together with my team, I’ve built the Estonian sock brand Sokisahtel  and gourmet salt brand Salt’sUp, and I launched my first online store back in 2005.

That day‑to‑day work in retail and e‑commerce is the lens I use to write about shopping history, brand origin stories and case studies from around the world, how different companies test ideas, learn from shoppers and turn those insights into sales.

Writing these stories is my passion project: I love unpacking how big and small brands started, what they tried, what actually worked and how you can borrow those ideas for your own retail or e‑commerce business.

Alongside that, I work with small business owners through e‑commerce and social media trainings, practical AI‑tool workshops, 1:1 consulting and mentorship helping them turn shopping history and brand stories into concrete next steps for their own shops.

Shopping science is the study of consumer behavior and the optimization of shopping experiences both online and in physical stores. It helps small businesses by providing insights and strategies to effectively market and sell products across online and retail worlds.

      • Are you looking to improve sales both online and in physical stores?
      • Do you want to better understand your customers’ behavior and shopping habits?
      • Are you planning to expand your business to global markets and need strategies for success?

If you answered yes, a shopping science expert can help you achieve your goals.

In a one-hour consultation, we will tackle specific challenges you’re facing, such as launching a new product, choosing the right sales channels, or selecting the most effective social media platforms. We’ll address any questions you have about selling your product in both online and retail channels.

It’s best to start with one consultation to address your immediate needs. If you find that you need ongoing support, you can always book additional sessions. For those who anticipate needing more extensive guidance, there are 10- and 20-hour packages available at a discounted rate.
